Know your Fire

Different types of fire require different types of fire extinguisher. We supply fire extinguishers for all classes of fire including:

• Water fire extinguishers - for class A fires (fuelled by paper, wood or fabrics and some types of plastic)
• Foam fire extinguishers - for class A and B fires (fuelled by flammable liquids such as petrol, oil, paints, some waxes and plastics but not cooking oils) and good all round for use at home.
• CO2 fire extinguishers - for class B and E fires (fuelled by electrical equipment and flammable liquids such as paint, oils). The only ones to use on electrical fires
• Dry powder fire extinguishers - for class A, B and C fires (fuelled by gases, such as hydrogen, butane or propane). They are therefore an excellent all round fire extinguisher
• Metal fire fire extinguishers - for class D fires (fuelled by metals). These are highly specialised and a survey is highly recommended if you think you require this type of extinguisher
• Wet chemical fire extinguishers - for class F fires (fuelled by hot cooking oil or fats)
