Oval Cylinder Locks

Oval cylinder locks have an oval profile and are used with an oval mortice lock case. The cylinder is inserted through the door, including through the lock case which is morticed into the edge of the door. You must ensure that door handles have an oval cut out on the back plate to allow access for the cylinder. We are expert at fitting cylinder locks.

As with Euro locks, oval cylinder locks are largely used where master key systems are required. They can be keyed alike or keyed to differ as required and are suitable for commercial premises where the security of keys is a priority.

Three types of oval cylinder lock

• Single cylinder locks – which allow a key to be used in the lock from one side only
• Double cylinder locks – where a key can be used to lock and unlock a door from both sides of the door.
• Key and turn cylinder locks – where the door is locked or unlocked by a key from one side and by turning a knob on the other side of the door.
